Hi there

Hey River

Jawusa • 24 Feb 2016 @ 06:55 GMT

Hi River! How are you?

Jawusa • 25 Feb 2016 @ 09:08 GMT

I’m fine.
As for your TS2 problem, have you tried running the game as admin?

Do you use Windows 10? If so, then you’ll need to choose ‘Windows 8’ as compatibility mode, too.

I always get TS2 to work if I do these things.

I hope I could help.

Jawusa • 26 Feb 2016 @ 09:39 GMT

Do you have TS2 Ultimate Collection? There’s a known bug that if you fix the registry and remove the ‘invalid’ application paths of TS2, Sims 2 won’t work anymore and needs to be re-installed.

Look here for more info about that.

You could also try deleting the cache files which are found in your DocumentsEA GamesThe Sims 2 folder.

They are called – Accessory.cache – ContentRegistry – Groups.cache – cigen???
And maybe there are some more. I can’t remember all the names.
But you’ll notice them as they aren’t in a folder and they all have white icons.

I’d say delete those files and let the game generate new ones. This worked for some users.

Have you tried uninstalling UC and Origin and restarting your computer and re-installing Origin and UC?

Maybe there’s just an issue with the origin setup.

I hope you can sort it out. :/
By the way, do you use Mac or Windows?

Jawusa • 3 Mar 2016 @ 10:47 GMT

Do you recall installing any updates around that time?
There are some incompatible drivers and you may updated your driver so that’s why TS2 won’t launch.

Have a look in this list. http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:System_Requirements/MTS2_Recommendations

Jawusa • 4 Mar 2016 @ 07:13 GMT

Hmmm. What else could it be…?

You said it worked before…
Did you install any other programs around that time?

It’s a little strange that it worked before but now it doesn’t.

Jawusa • 4 Mar 2016 @ 07:15 GMT

If you launch TS2, is there a pop-up appearing that says TS2 won’t launch and will terminate now?

If so, could you copy the pop-up text?
Maybe I could help you more if I knew what kind of problem you have.

Try deleting your NeighborhoodManager.package which is found in your Documents—EA Games—Neighborhoods folder.

Maybe it was just this file which was corrupt and that’s why you were not able to launch the game.

Jawusa • 5 Mar 2016 @ 21:46 GMT

Not sure if this will help, but I’ve just found this.

It might be possible that your game got corrupted and needs to be re-installed completely, but you already did this.

When you re-installed the game, did you also delete the The Sims 2 folder in your Documents folder?

If not, then try re-installing the game again. This time, make sure that you remove everything that is sim-related. You may also want to use CCleaner to clean up other left-over references.

Maybe there’s a left-over reference somewhere in the registry that blocks the game to be launched…

Jawusa • 6 Mar 2016 @ 09:37 GMT

Instead of repairing the game, uninstall TS2 completely. After the uninstall, use CCleaner to wipe leftover datas, then go to Program Files and remove the The Sims 2 folder if it’s still there.

Then go to your Documents/EA Games and remove The Sims 2 folder.
Then restart your computer and try again.

Jawusa • 6 Mar 2016 @ 22:00 GMT

Let’s hope it will work!

Jawusa • 7 Mar 2016 @ 11:53 GMT

Ooh!

Maybe it will work if you launch the game from the .exe file.
It should be found in
C rogram Files (x86)Origin GamesThe Sims 2 Ultimate CollectionFun with PetsSP9TSBin
If you see a file named Sims2EP9.exe, then it’s the right one.

Launch the game from here, does it make a difference?

Jawusa • 8 Mar 2016 @ 11:38 GMT

I’d still try. Maybe it will work.
Let’s hope it does.

Jawusa • 9 Mar 2016 @ 11:47 GMT

That’s interesting.
Try it again, even if it’s black.
Leave your computer open and go shopping or meet friends or do whatever you like during that time.

Who knows, maybe if you come back home, TS2 will launch…

Jawusa • 10 Mar 2016 @ 06:26 GMT

And if you launch TS2 in windowed mode, does it work then?

If it doesn’t, try running it as admin.

Jawusa • 25 Apr 2016 @ 10:50 GMT

Hi.

Were you able to launch TS2?
